What a grand year 2008 was! Milestones met, goals accomplished and lives changed thanks
to the number ONE in all our lives, Jesus Christ!

Allow me to expound on some of the great things accomplished in 2008:

1. Statewide and Sectional Rallies – each one was well planned, attended and motivating to all present.

2. Youth Camps – WOW, two incredible weeks of non-stop action. Around 2000 campers and over 150 Staff
Members were with us for this great time. We give God all the praise for those who received the Holy Ghost and
who allowed God to change their lives.

A special Thank You to all Pastors, Parents, Guardians, Youth Staff and Churches for trusting us with your children,
they are #1! And to all those who worked with us for those two weeks, Thank You, without you it would be
impossible.

3. LA Allstate Youth Choir – Did they not do an awesome job? Thank you to Johnny Gibbs, Jared Pavlu and all
the LASYC for all you did. To the choir members and musicians, Thank You for not withholding the talent God has blessed you with.

4. LA Bible Quizzing – What a fabulous group of young men and ladies make up LA Bible Quizzing. You all ROCK! Thank You, to Bro. Roger Creel (LA Quiz SR. Master) and to all those who help him on the state level. To all quiz
team coaches and sponsors, Thank You! What a blessing each of you are to the Kingdom and to us in LA.

5. Sheaves for Christ – UNREAL!!!!!!!! Once again you all did AWESOME! $310,000 was received for the glory and honor of Jesus Christ. No matter what each church or individual faced you all came together and gave another
GREAT offering. We were once again #1 thanks to all your hard work and dedication. There are countless lives
being reached because of your unselfishness. Eternity alone will tell the story.

What great memories!

I have heard it said on more than one occasion by our Bishop T.F. Tenney, “The past is a great place to learn from
but a bad place to live.” So we, LDYM (LA District Youth Ministries) thank God for all that happened in 2008, but we
are more excited about what 2009 holds.

Mission in Motion is our national motto for 2009 and that is exactly what we plan to do. It is not a day for us to sit back, relax and talk about the good ole days of yester year. It is time we step up and do what has never been done so we
can see what we have only dreamt of.

Our theme for Youth Camps 2009 is Collide. When a collision occurs both parties involved are affected. It is our desire to see the lives of our LA Youth impacted as well as the lives of those they come in contact with. We believe whole-heartedly God has a special anointing for this generation; it is our desire to partner with each of you (Pastor, Parent, Guardian, Youth Worker, Church) to equip and challenge them to respond to the call God has for them.

Recently God shared an impacting revelation/truth with me. Israel was told all throughout the Old Testament of a deliverer to come and the freedom He was to bring. Isaiah said “the government shall be upon His shoulder; and His name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father and the Prince of Peace.” Undoubtedly Jews believed The Deliverer was going to come upon a white horse with a great army of celestial
soldiers and free them from the oppression of foreign rulers. He would set up His Kingdom and there would be peace
in their lands. But God had other plans. He was not planning to come and liberate as they believed He would, instead His plan was to “make a way of escape” in Himself from their problems without changing their reality or situation.
For this reason many rejected Him. They did not like the idea of having to cope with life not escape from life.

The same is true with many lives today. They expect Jesus to rescue them from the world they live in instead of empower them to overcome this world while living in it. Our hope is that LA Youth will have such a collision with
Jesus that their way of living will be impacted and changed. But not only that, we also wish they be so impacted that Jesus is stopped in His tracks by each youth’s life. Eternity for many rests upon the shoulders of this generation and
we have been entrusted with the responsibility of preparing them, CAN WE DO IT?!

Many great activities are planned for 2009, so be looking for information to arrive via snail mail, email and voicemail. Join us and lets have a never to be forgotten 2009.

God’s best!
Jared Howell – LDYM Youth President
